KoalaStuff

Small open-source tools for real annoyances.

Browser extensions, web tools, desktop utilities and experiments built around media, self-hosting, automation and everyday workflows.

Made by Timo, a solo developer from Germany.

Projects

All projects are open-source and built around real use cases. Some are polished, some are still early — but none are vaporware.

All open-source tools and utilities built by KoalaStuff.

Active

KoalaShip

An open-source shopping and parcel-delivery simulation. Experience the fun of online shopping without spending real money.

Backstory

I read an article about "Dopamine sites" in South Korea (sites with fake shopping carts and fictional parcel tracking designed to release dopamine without spending money). I thought the idea was hilarious and wanted to see how hard it would be to build, while also testing Svelte as an alternative to Astro.

Flatland TD icon
Active

Flatland TD

A local-first neon cyber idle tower defense game. Deploy towers, survive geometric enemies, refine Alloy and keep progressing offline.

Backstory

Flatland TD was heavily inspired by the game 'The Tower'. It really annoyed me that it wasn't playable on PC, which is why I turned it into a responsive web app. Also, the pay-to-win system of the developers got on my nerves – they simply became way too greedy.

KoalaSync icon
Active

KoalaSync

Browser watch parties for any video. Sync playback across YouTube, Netflix, Emby, Jellyfin, Plex and more.

Backstory

KoalaSync was born out of frustration that popular watch party alternatives like Teleparty do not support self-hosted platforms (e.g., Emby). I wanted to create a privacy-first solution that remains permanently free, ad-free, and fully self-hostable.

KoalaPull icon
Active

KoalaPull

A native desktop download manager for yt-dlp. Download videos, audio and playlists from hundreds of sites — without using a terminal.

Backstory

Tired of searching for a new, working graphical user interface every time I wanted to use yt-dlp, I decided to build my own clean, native desktop UI.

KoalaClicker icon
WIP

KoalaClicker

A privacy-first auto-clicker for idle games and repetitive web tasks. Zero tracking, zero permissions beyond the active tab.

Backstory

While playing Cookie Clicker, I wanted an easy, safe way to quickly automate clicks without having to install untrustworthy browser extensions or external scripts.

WIP

KoalaCookies

A lightweight cookie manager extension to view, edit, block, and export HTTP cookies with ease.

Backstory

I found existing cookie managers to be bloated or invasive. I wanted a minimal, privacy-focused extension that provided only the necessary tools for managing cookies locally.

KoalaFlyff icon
WIP

KoalaFlyff

Helper extension for Flyff Universe to play two accounts simultaneously by forwarding keystrokes from the active tab to a secondary background tab (e.g., to trigger heals).

Backstory

Playing two characters in Flyff Universe manually is tedious. I built this extension to automate the boring support tasks by syncing inputs between tabs.

KoalaSound icon
Experimental

KoalaSound

Real-time audio processing for browser video tabs. Compressor and EQ presets. Chromium-only proof of concept.

Backstory

Modern movies often have extreme volume fluctuations between quiet dialogue and loud action scenes, forcing constant volume adjustments. KoalaSound was built as a proof of concept to solve this, with the goal of eventually integrating it directly into KoalaSync.

KoalaStartpage icon
Active

KoalaStartpage

A personal bento-box dashboard linking KoalaStuff projects, server status and daily tools. Moving to startpage.koalastuff.net.

Backstory

I needed a personalized new tab page that immediately links to all my key projects and servers to speed up my daily workflow. It also shows the local weather conditions at a glance.

KoalaSnippets icon
Active

KoalaSnippets

A polished self-hosted code snippet manager to capture, organize, and share code snippets easily.

Backstory

I was frustrated by the chaos of keeping hundreds of unsaved tabs open in Notepad++ just to store SQL queries and code snippets. Since the popular alternative 'snippet-box' hadn't been updated in years, I built KoalaSnippets as a modern self-hosted replacement.

Active

KoalaWeb

Shared online timer application for synchronized countdowns and session tracking.

Backstory

KoalaWeb started with the idea of a synchronized online timer to coordinate regular 30-minute breaks with a friend without having to ask how much time was left. It later expanded to include League of Legends esports trackers, betting games with play money, and other fun features.

Active

KoalaSnap

A free chat mockup generator and social post simulator for WhatsApp, Discord, Telegram, and more. 100% privacy-friendly and client-side.

Backstory

This project was built as a proof of concept. After seeing someone on Reddit charge money for a chat mockup generator, I wanted to prove that a similar tool could be built in just one or two hours using a free AI model (DeepSeek).

Early

KoalaEdit

A local-first Markdown editor with a split CodeMirror workspace, live preview and browser-stored notes.

Backstory

I wanted a small, fast Markdown workspace that keeps drafts local by default and does not require accounts, sync services or a heavyweight writing suite.

KoalaNews icon
Early

KoalaNews

A privacy-focused RSS reader with accounts, custom feeds, read state, OPML, i18n, local image caching and SQLite persistence.

Backstory

I wanted to create a privacy-focused RSS reader and aggregator that allows me to simply open a single page and scroll through all my news feeds in one place without any tracking.

Early

KoalaWorld

A self-hosted 3D geo-visualization globe with real-time earthquakes, wildfires, weather, air quality and ISS tracking.

Backstory

KoalaWorld was a proof of concept to evaluate the capabilities of local AI models. I wanted to see if they could generate a smooth WebGL 3D rendering of Earth that visualizes real-time geospatial data from various open APIs.

Early

KoalaBye

A privacy-first, self-hosted platform for uninstall feedback and anonymous surveys. No tracking, 100% free.

Backstory

To understand why users uninstall KoalaSync, I needed a privacy-focused survey tool. I wanted to avoid paying external providers and, most importantly, keep my users' data safe by not redirecting them to third-party platforms with questionable privacy policies.

Early

KoalaFinance

A self-hosted, end-to-end encrypted personal finance tracker. Track budgets and expenses manually without bank APIs, telemetry, or SaaS dependencies.

Backstory

I wanted a personal finance tool that doesn't connect to banks or rely on external services. Every existing solution either requires full bank API access or runs on someone else's servers. KoalaFinance is my attempt at a self-hosted, encrypted, manual-budgeting alternative where only the user holds the keys.

WIP

KoalaNotes

A privacy-first, local-first TTRPG campaign notebook. Capture session notes, NPCs, and world lore offline with optional end-to-end encrypted sync.

Backstory

Existing TTRPG campaign tools are either bloated with features I don't need or require accounts and cloud storage. I wanted a simple, local-first notebook that works offline, keeps player data private, and optionally syncs when I choose — without lock-in or subscriptions.

About KoalaStuff

KoalaStuff is where I collect small tools, browser extensions and experiments that solve problems I run into myself. Some are polished, some are still early, but the goal is always the same: useful tools without unnecessary accounts, tracking or SaaS fluff.

Built by a solo developer, one feature at a time. All projects are open-source. If something is broken or missing a feature, GitHub issues are the right place.

Some projects are polished, some are experimental, but all are built around real use cases.

Why trust these projects?

Open source
All projects are open source. You can read the code, report issues and suggest improvements on GitHub.
No tracking on this site
This website has no analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party scripts. The same applies to the software: All projects featured here are 100% open-source, MIT licensed, and built for maximum privacy with zero tracking.
Built around real use cases
These tools were built because I needed them myself. No fake demos, no stock-photo testimonials, no inflated user counts.
Honest about limitations
Every project page clearly states what works, what does not, and what is still experimental. No promises we can't keep.
